Project Description
Every year 1-800 Contacts does a tree for the Festival of Trees. This year I conceived, designed and then built this nearly life-size recreation of “THE GRINCH” stuffing a Christmas Tree up a Who-ville chimney. Tree design was a collaboration with events department and construction was assisted by facilities of the Chimney. I was principle art director for this piece. One of my favorite works of art. Tree sold for approx. $12,000 which was then donated to Primary Childrens Medical Center. Cost to build was under $1000 (including the year supply of contact lenses). I felt a progression of it’s construction was appropriate to convey scale and detail. One of many 3-D display items I’ve designed over the years.
